Many notices do not need paper. A letter is worth it when the recipient has no e-mail address or does not answer, when you must prove that your notice arrived, or when a law or the recipient asks for a letter. We cannot send letters that need your handwritten signature.
When a letter is the better choice
- No e-mail address or form. Many private landlords and small firms publish none.
- A deadline, and you may have to prove that the notice arrived. A tenants' association in Munich writes that an e-mail alone is not suitable proof of receipt (Mieterverein München, in German). Send a registered letter.
- US debt collector: you dispute the debt. The law says "in writing" (15 U.S.C. § 1692g(b)); e-mail counts only if the collector accepts disputes that way. The CFPB calls certified mail "generally a good idea" (CFPB).
- Germany: withdrawal from a contract made by phone or at the door, or a GDPR request when e-mail does not work (no privacy contact, no answer). German consumer centres advise "per Post (Einwurfeinschreiben!)" (Verbraucherzentrale).
- Germany: an objection (Widerspruch) to an official decision. It must be made in writing, in an electronic form that the law allows (for example a qualified e-signature or the authority's online form with eID), or on record at the authority (§ 70 VwGO). A plain e-mail is not one of these. On the signature, see below.
A registered letter records the delivery of the envelope, not what was inside. Keep a copy. In Germany, the post's record of the drop into the mailbox is, on its own, no proof of delivery in court: What a registered letter proves.
Letters that need your handwritten signature: we cannot send these
When a law asks for "written form", it often means a handwritten signature (§ 126 BGB). Our letters carry your typed name, and we cannot sign for you. Examples:
- Germany, ending a job (by you or your employer) (§ 623 BGB).
- Germany, ending a residential lease (by tenant or landlord) (§ 568 BGB).
- Austria, a tenant ending a lease: "gerichtlich oder schriftlich", by court or in writing (§ 33 MRG).
- Any contract or authority that asks for a signed notice. For an objection to an official decision, it is not settled whether a typed name is enough.
How we send it
Your AI writes the letter with you. You approve the PDF preview and the price. We print the letter and hand it to the post in your name, by standard or registered letter. What each service records: What a registered letter proves.
All prices
What the post records:
| Service | Handover recorded | Delivery recorded | Signature |
|---|---|---|---|
| United States: Certified Mail with return receipt (USPS) | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Belgium: Registered letter (bpost recommandé / aangetekend) | Yes | Yes¹ | No |
| Germany: Registered letter (Deutsche Post Einschreiben Einwurf) | Yes | Yes² | No |
| Spain: Registered letter with signature (Correos carta certificada) | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Standard letter (all countries) | Yes | No | No |
¹ On its own, bpost’s receipt is proof of posting, not proof of delivery. We do not offer the acknowledgement of receipt yet. ² On its own, the mailbox record is not proof of delivery in a German court (Federal Labour Court, 2 AZR 184/25).
Registered letters come with a tracking number. We cannot fetch the post’s delivery receipt for you yet. Within Austria, we do not offer a registered letter yet: a letter to Austria goes as a standard letter.
The price is the full price for printing, envelope and postage, for one page. Longer letters cost more. The preview shows the full price before you approve.

FAQ
Is a letter with a typed name a "written" letter?
Not in the legal sense of written form in Germany: that needs a handwritten signature (§ 126 BGB). Text form needs a readable declaration that names you, on a durable medium such as paper or e-mail (§ 126b BGB). Our letter names you as the sender and carries your typed name.
Is an e-mail proof that my notice arrived?
Often not enough. A tenants' association in Munich writes: "Ein Versand nur per E-Mail stellt keinen geeigneten Zugangsnachweis dar" (sending only by e-mail is not suitable proof of receipt).
Does a registered letter prove what I wrote?
No. It records the delivery of the envelope, not its content. Keep a copy.
What if the recipient does not collect a registered letter?
With the German Einschreiben Einwurf that we send, the carrier puts the letter into the mailbox and records it. The recipient does not need to sign or collect anything.
Is a typed name enough in Austria?
Where a law or a contract asks for written form, a signature is usually needed (§ 886 ABGB). An Austrian consumer contract may ask for written form, but nothing stricter (§ 6 KSchG). If your Austrian contract says "in writing", our letter may not be enough.
Can you send a registered letter to Austria?
No. We do not offer a registered letter to Austria yet. Our standard letter to Austria records when the post receives the letter. The post does not record the delivery.
